speaking of being tired

so it’s 4 am and I need to wake up at 7-ish! we got stuck in the Louis-Bourgeois Bahá’í Centre until 2:30 in the morning because someone had mistakenly locked the room with everyone’s stuff in it, and nobody had the key (since the door had never been locked before). the locksmith didn’t arrive for about an hour and a half. I think he got lost. :( while I was waiting for him, I mistakenly fell asleep in my car with the lights and engine on, so when I woke up my fuel gauge was at empty. luckily gas stations are mostly open 24h in Pierrefonds.

oh yeah, the rest of the day was pretty good. this stuff is all pretty commonplace for youth conferences. there’s always hijinks aplenty. I’ll write more when… well, you get the idea.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

i am t i r e d

;P

ps. see you all in montreal

insert clown music here

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!! got to follow up on resumés. only one and a half days left!

feeling a bit better today. it helps to read the Writings, especially the parts about assurance of ultimate victory. right now all I really want to do is follow up to the people I sent my CV to, and maybe if there’s time, scout around for an apartment. act act act. apparently apartments around here get snapped up real quick (if they’re good). sigh. oh well, it’s about time I learned how all this works ;)

NO! I WANNA HOLLER THE LOUD FUNNY WORDS! I LIKE DARREN! HE IS MY FRIEND! I LIKE YOU, AND HIM! YOU LIKE ME! AND I LIKE HIM! I LIKE HIS AUTOGRAPH! IT IS A NICE PICTURE!

all wacked on the scooby snacks

gaaaah. all the keyboard mappings around here are different. I never know which keys to press to get a slash, or a less-than, or a — I’ll stop complaining. ;) especially since I’m using a computer at the Girards’ home, instead of at the library (which is closed). They have a home network set up with high-speed internet access. Sweet!

more job hunting today, and lots of typing up cover letters. it’s tiring work, I have to sit around and think of what’s so good about me. hehe. I’m starting to miss Ottawa already, it’s hard being out here in a town I don’t know, in a community with so many people I barely know. send me some big ups if you can and if you have the time. hope to see a bunch of you at the Montreal conference. I’m starting to think of the logistics of my moving down here — it may have to be quick, and I might not have as much time as I thought I might. I should be alright to be in Ottawa for the first few days after Easter, though.

hey meesa, you were right, I’m already being tested in ways I never expected ;) oh well. trusting in God as always.

more festiveness

so we had a Naw-rúz party here in Victoriaville last night. it was pretty cool. there was lots of food and music, and there was a clown too. he gave me a balloon bicycle after he subjected me to card tricks, but I gave it away to someone who didn’t have a balloon. :) I got to meet lots of people, like I said. In this area, there seems to be about four youth besides me, only one (i think) of which, Oliya, is my age. Speaking of which, there she is right over there. cool. this is such a neat town. it’s all small and everything. I get the feeling that once I’ve been here a year, I’ll know everyone in the town. Anyway, I also met Vahid and Gregory from Montreal, who came down to play the guitar and do some ACTION THEATRE with us. getting in touch with our positive and happy nature.

ok, I have to get to work writing cover letters and photocopying resumés and stuff. KTHXPEACEOUT

trying again

doh! I lost the post I tried to make yesterday. Oh well, just to let you all know, I’m in Victoriaville, safe and sound. I’m in the library checking email right now. I only have fifteen minutes so I’ll post some more later when I have the chance. Tonight the community is having a Naw-Rúz celebration, so I’ll get to meet the people in the community in the surrounding area.

I was jobhunting yesterday, doing follow-ups and finding more places to leave my resumé. I’m glad I came down here, I’ve already found a lot of places that weren’t listed but are still looking for people to work. I’ve already been here two days and already I have too many stories to tell. I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures so that I’ll have something to show everybody when I get back :)

norouz mubarak

happy Naw-Rúz! it’s after midnight and I need to get to bed. tomorrow afternoon I’ll be on my way to Victoriaville. wish me luck, everyone! to all the Bahá’ís out there, happy naw-rúz. when you eat lunch today, let the sun gleam on your face.

he’s got a ticket to ride

so I just booked a train ticket with Amtrak for my trip to New York City in June. the trip is Montreal-NYC, or their “Adirondack” route. it cuts through the Hudson River valley. I’m told that this is particularly beautiful. I just hope it’ll be a sunny day :)

more on this stuff at a later date. right now I’m pretty tired.

uhhh map crap

uhhh. suddenly yahoo maps went crappy. what happened to their partnership with mapquest? oh well. I’m gonna have to make myself a little victoriaville page for people who are interested in more than just a map. :)

the plans of mice and men

so, it looks like I’ll be going down to Victoriaville on March 21st, Naw-Rúz (the Bahá’í new year). a new year, a new town, a new book to write, a new garden to tend.

my schedule is something like this: leave town on the 21st, staying with a Bahá’í family in Vic until the 29th, when I’ll depart to Montreal for the weekend (hopefully finding somebody to stay with!) to attend the Youth Conference that’ll be going on there. I’ll stay there until the night of the 31st, whereupon I’ll return to Ottawa. If everything goes well, I’ll be back in Vic for good by the 6th of April. inshallah.

anyway, time to sleep now. zzzzzzzzz

spam spam spam spam

oh well. some email harvester finally found my email somewhere (which is difficult, seeing as I don’t usually post it anywhere on the net) and now I’m getting SPECIAL INVESTMENT ALERT spam. uhh, free clue: I don’t care. your hot stock picks can kiss my buttinski. although now it’s giving me an opportunity to try and derive a regular expression that will catch all the spam that I get, without misidentifying legit email. oh well. if you can’t have a little humor about these things, then what good is it?

on the plus side, at least i can use procmail

FOOCORP has sold over a million of it’s most popular tool, the 13-in-1, multi bit Ratchet Screwdriver

These are high-end bags with the comfort and affordability of traditonal bags

beverage survey

so some guy calls from a telemarketing company in london (ontario), and asks for a man 19 years of age or older. that’s me, i guess. so he asks me about beverages. have I had to drink any bottled or canned soft drinks in the past week? no. wine? no, I don’t drink. coffee? no. liquor? um, no. beer? no. would I like to participate in further surveys on the internet? no. thank you for your time. good-bye. that was possibly the most pointless (and painless) conversation I’ve ever had.

mean people suck.
