cabs potluck photos

The photos are up from the recent CABS potluck at our place. It was a small event (understandable given it’s the CABS’s off-season) but the participants were rewarded with deep discussion and yummy food. Check them out!

high speed!

huzzah! we have high speed internet. as misagh says, “welcome to hassle free internet”.

there was a really phat meeting at our place last night, lots of people came out to discuss a teaching project focused on junior youth in Ottawa’s Sector 9. it’s the first time we’ve had an open consultation about teaching projects in Ottawa since the cluster got the “A” designation, I think. anyway, this looks to be a promising first step to involving junior youth in the Bahá’í Faith.

I’ll type more later. Catherine’s invited me to take a tour of the place where she works. Arash should be there, too, so look for news on Arash City.

slowing up

so, things are quietly settling down from my move. I’ve settled all my accounts in Drummondville, and things are slowly starting to pick up again in Ottawa. They say that moving is one of the most stressful events one can go through in life. I can believe it. I think I’ve had way too much stress in the past while. On the other hand, I think coming back to Ottawa was the best decision I could make. It takes a lot of pressure off to be back here, and frees up more energy for me to heal.

si vous pouviez savoir comment souvent je pense à vous,

comment souvent vous êtes dans mes prières.

mon âme pleure d’être séparé de l’endroit béni

de son réveil.

watch this space.

memory lane

Did you know that I’ve been maintaining this website since March 1994? That means that this year is doberman pizza’s 10th anniversary. It’s gone through many changes of purpose and design to become what it is today. Many features have been added and still more have faded into obscurity. Anyway, to celebrate this auspicious occasion (and to whet your appetite for the upcoming redesign on the 1st of August), I’ve put together a little trip down memory lane, showing some of the designs this site has gone through over the years. I hope you like them.

past features:

  • Ottawa Concert Listings (the first ever on the Internet, back in 1994!)
  • Short stories and poems
  • Guestbook / User Comments
  • The People’s Story (an add-to story)
  • Pizza-themed Web-board
  • and more…

get pot-lucked out

check it out: the next CABS potluck will be held at the home of yours truly in good old sector 9. It’ll all take place Friday, July 23rd, @ 6:30 PM. Our place is accessible by bus, and it’s not so far from the Queensway either; call the ghetto hotline at (613) THA-GUNS for more info and/or directions. A good time is promised for all! Activities include discussion on the Topic of the Week (which is…? we’ll see once we get there), phat eats, games (i.e. TOCK) and uplifting conversation. bring a friend!

and now for my next number…

the big announcement is that this website will be undergoing a redesign soon. Starting on the 1st of August, the NEW! IMPROVED! doberman pizza will be online, along with some HOT! NEW! features. thanks to a sudden influx of available webspace by a good-willed anonymous donor, I’ll have much more space to put stuff online. among other developments, visitors to the updated site will find: new features developed to serve the Bahá’í community; a clearer, more intuitive and user-friendly layout; and, of course, games!

So, pull up Monday, August 1st, 2004 in your agenda and write a little note to visit the new incarnation of doberman pizza. it does a body good. err, I mean, made from the best stuff on earth. umm, i mean, have you had your break today?…

maybe I should run a slogan contest.

interesting search terms

so I’ve installed NedStat, a fun little statistics counter, onto my page. you can go check it out by clicking on the little blue graph icon underneath all the buzznet stuff. nedstat gives you a fair bit of info, like where your visitors come from, when they visit, what sort of browser they use, etc. it also shows you how your visitors find your website, and, if they used a search engine to find you, what terms they used. here are some interesting searches used to find my site:

  • cute doberman pics (and variations; ‘doberman’ is the most common search term)

  • reservoir dogs (the second most common search terms… don’t ask me why!?)
  • curly hair (and variations)
  • drumondville talk (sic)
  • baha’i center sherbrooke
  • ruhi tutors in montreal
  • tom selleck baha’i (?!?!?)
  • stephen harper and pets
  • I wanna holler the loud funny words
  • marie-jo therio
  • kashke bademjoon
  • long obligatory prayer how-to
  • it’s a beautiful pizza
  • cogito ergo elk
  • wills of san francisco potato salad (this one left me… speechless)

mean people suck.
