fuggeddabouttit

hey, I’m in nyc and I have four minutes to type something. I’m doing well. I am staying in the Big Apple Hostel which is nice and seems to be safe and well managed. It’s right off times square. I had a rehearsal with the Voices of Baha last night and there’s another one this afternoon. I am taking lots of pictures and meeting new people. yikes two minutes. seeya. :)

blefh

ugh. I feel pretty lifeless. I should get some rest. I’ll need it this next week. I leave for Montreal Friday night probably, and I’ll be off to NYC on the 25th. I wonder how early I should show up to get ready for the train — it leaves at 9:50 AM. Does 7 AM sound good?

hmm, lots of preparations to make. I wonder how I’m going to get to Montreal?

money, it’s a gas

so I booked a room in a hostel in Manhattan, not far from Carnegie Hall and Penn Station. Actually, it’s just a couple of blocks from Times Square. Neat. As long as I take precautions to protect myself from muggers and their ilk, I should be fairly okay.

Hey, check out the concert’s website. It’s pretty extensive and pretty phat.

The only problem is that even with all the thrifty accommodations and so forth, I’m gonna get mowed down by the exchange rate ;) gahh! I need money!

frogger catches a fly!

Ahhh good breakfast. Of course now comes the tricky part — doing all the work ;) As the Lemmings would say, “Let’s go!”

busting through a guerilla roadblock

Sometimes I wish I were in some crazy action movie where they have armed guerillas walking the streets and I’m a big handsome reporter who rides an expensive SUV and busts through roadblocks and crosses borders to escape evil dictators and all that. Then I get real and I’m a young man riding his bike around a little town in Quebec, and driving to Montreal for Ruhi. Actually, that’s fairly exciting. Ruhi is a pretty world-changing phenomenon. We’re talking about a study program aimed at helping people everywhere become “the protagonists of their own advancement”. (Century of Light, p. 140)

What people need now is courage, courage to do what the world needs. Well, they need other things too, but… well, at the moment I’m just saying this one thing because I was thinking of it. There’s lots of things that the world needs. Read Century of Light for a good summary.

Also, lemme just say something about the Voices of Bahá choir. I just recently got the music for the songs we’ll be singing, and I started singing it. And you know, I love it. I really like singing. I’m completely out of practice and I need to work on my breath control BIG TIME, but otherwise it’s going well. I think I will indeed have the songs memorized by the end of June. Yay!

I can’t believe I went all this time with this passion for singing and never jumped on it. It kinda shows what a little push, a little suggestion from friends can do sometimes. You guys know who you are… thanks. ;)

fun fact

by the way: when I came home today from driving around, the odometer read 382328. I thought that was a pretty cool number. I can’t wait until what happens in 54 kilometers!

want to fry, hamburglar?

well wow, that was a pretty good weekend. I was in Ottawa and hung out with family and friends, went to my brother’s art exhibit, played Risk until four in the morning, and attended a gathering of study circle tutors, and to top it all off, my weekend was bookended by Ruhi circles in Montreal. I spent a lot of time driving around and staying up late. I slept in Montreal last night after the study circle, at Pardis and René’s house near McGill. I got up early (6:30 AM) and mosied on over to the Directeur de l’État Civil (Registrar of Civil Status) in downtown MTL to apply for my birth certificate. I think I’m simply going to take the birth certificate and a bunch of photo ID with me when I go to NYC at the end of the month. I’ve called the customs info line and read literature and it seems to me that they’ll let me in with that. I’ll call again to make absolutely sure. Then, after that, I’ll apply for my passport, so this never has to happen again. Shows you what good it does to be a slacker. ;)

chocolate pork tongue

“Dave Lo” <hgh4254@Flashmail.com> says he can help me with my fibromyalgia. That would be great, if I had it. delete
